My Skains Family Genealogy

Skains, Skain, Skeen, etc. are all variants of Skene, a Scotish clan in Scotland. Skains was not used until they were in Butler County, Alabama, but still other variants are used there. Skeen was not used by the descendants of Adam, Sr.

...The Skeens in NY tended to be Tory in the American Revolution. I believe there was a Governor Skeen in NY. Also some of the branches of the family in PA and NC were Skeen. However, the families of Adam Skain and Nicholas Skain lived in the Union District, SC. The Union Co., SC books mention Adam and his 2 brothers for their Revolutionary War service. Adam's pension records are available on microfilm through either the Mormon Librarys or the National Archives. (As are Nicholas Skain's.)
